We here at Metfab Metals don’t make canopies every day, but we have the skills needed. The one pictured above will hang over the entrance of an upscale building as it opens next year in New York City. It’s likely that this will not be the only fabrication we provide for this new structure. We always work with our customers to interface smoothly, error-free and expeditiously.
The required seamless exchange of information and work-flow with our customer (and essential suppliers/sub-contractors) is a constant goal here at Metfab Metals!!! Our technology empowers us to swiftly issue an all-inclusive quote and then to modify it, as your specs and drawings evolve and require changes on your end----and ours. This is exactly what happened with the above canopy. Our present work involves a whole spectrum of metal fabrication, starting with this canopy, to huge mullions for a luxury high-rise and to mundane ordinary super-structure anchors. We are now producing for a signature Midtown building finely finished lobby mullions, some of which are already delivered for installation.
This implicates our “signature” product, AESS steel, fashioned into various mullions, trusses, anchors and more. Thus your specs are the critical point from which all issues flow. If your Design Team specifies your project clearly & precisely, we can quote it precisely and forecast a schedule that will work for your erector & general contractor. When you have “good” drawings and clear specs, let us take the proverbial “last look”. We have learned that an old philosopher’s warning sometimes oddly retards, not advances, a project. He simply said: “Perfect is the enemy of good.”1 So when you have good documents, send the fabrication ones to us for review and perhaps “detailing”. We very much subscribe to Mark Truman’s recent article about the detailing profession where he said: “With today’s innovations in detailing technology, the job (project metal detailer) has evolved well beyond what I could have imagined when I started in the profession.” 2 Let us early on assume this step (especially, if you’re behind schedule). We have such in-house capabilities or can outsource this for prompt fulfillment, if the scope and schedule call for this. So what can Metfab Metals do for you? Well certainly all the above. We can review your plans & drawings, get you a quote without delay, then even expedite detailed fab drawings. But basically, we are journeymen fabricators, making diverse parts all the time in job-unique sizes, finishes and designs (as our Update below on One Vanderbilt amply proves). The critical point is that we always make them precisely, to individual engineered specs, and with ever-evolving fine finishes (we have world-class finishers on call), and always service you by delivering them on time, in “installation condition” and within budget.

Updates: One Vanderbilt, NYC, NY ---- We have now supplied AESS solid steel mullions for the lower interior elevations (lobby) here. These are Category #4 AESS perfectly finished mullions. Soon you can walk into this lobby and see what this means as installed. Indeed you can walk in there 10 years from now and these AESS solid steel mullions will be just as pristine. This is just the specialty kind of work we here at Metfab Metals are expert in. No one can match our quality---and PERFORMANCE.
