We Don’t Usually Make “Petronius”- type steel (as below); But We Could.

This drilling platform stands on steel legs extending over 2000 feet to the bottom of the Gulf. Above the water line it stands over 200 feet and drills out both oil and gas every day to keep us as energy independent as we are.
We could make almost any of the steel parts that make up this behemoth. But, to date, we haven’t. Why? No one has asked us yet.
Even more so, we largely make specialty metals that are far more aesthetically pleasing than an oil platform that is said to sway as much as 25’ in adverse weather there over 50 miles “at sea”. Wow!
The platform is called “Petronius” after the named area in which it stands. Petronius himself was a pre-Christian Roman who served as Emperor Nero’s arbiter of taste. [In truth he was a dissolute guy who was near as crazy as Nero himself.] But he was a Roman Senator and, as such, entitled to much respect in Rome. He did not come to a happy end but he is famously regarded, even now, as the putative author of the Satyricon which is a racy Latin classic studied even yet in world-class universities.
But today, we want to talk about some much more current themes. Of course, Metfab Metals has decades of experience crafting and custom finishing far more sophisticated metal parts & assemblies for famous and not-so-famous jobs. In this process, we have worked together as a team with many of you already. What too often bedevils you then is the detail of working expeditiously together. This is when working with us can pay rich rewards, and not for Metfab Metals , but for YOU! What do we mean?
Such “details” issues ordinarily start with our reading of your job’s specs (too often finding potentially costly errors, then savings, before fabrication). We have many years of experience reading these and thus are fully familiar with their standard content. Not every fabricator has a staff with such knowledge at their fingertips. Often these specs set out not just the “nuts & bolts” of what steel must be fabricated, but just as significantly, what paperwork all your subs must generate before final payment can later be made to YOU.
As we have written before, this is especially true on a LEED or “Buy America” project where we must supply you with certifications as to the source of all of our raw materials, our delivery methods, what subcontractors we employed, etc… Such certifications are now routinely called for on an ongoing basis as so many projects now have such special conditions.
So what is Metfab Metals’ point here today in June, 2022? There are several. Of course, as long-experienced fabricators, we have the experience, technology, essential tools, staff and machinery-------- and the ingenuity, detailed experiences & creativity to solve the most challenging fabrications your architect might design. Equally significant, we are familiar with most job’s specs and can timely supply the documentation, certifications and other paperwork required before final payment is made. But our first-stressed point today is that we are “team players” who want to be your ”go to guys” for all your immediate metals needs, as well as reliable long-term suppliers of all manner of specialty steel and other metals.
